About

Alma is a composer, sound designer and musician based in Dublin. She works across a range of media fusing composition and sound design to create a free flowing sonic environment for theatre, dance, live art, film, festivals and everything in between.

She is an Associate of THISISPOPBABY and the musical force behind their smash hit shows WAKE  (co-produced with Dublin Fringe Festival in association with Irish Arts Centre New York), and RIOT , winner of Best Production at Tiger Dublin Fringe Festival 2016 which has also toured to Sydney, Melbourne, NYC and Toronto.    Her sound design for Olwen Fouére’s brilliant one woman show  Riverrun  was winner of the 2013 Irish Times Theatre Award.

She designed sound for the spectacular annual Macnas Parade in 2018 and was Composer/Sound Designer for The Misfits  bringing Arthur Miller’s iconic film to the stage for the first time in a new reimagining directed by Annie Ryan with Corn Exchange for the Dublin Theatre Festival.

RIOT

Producer: THISISPOPBABY

RIOT, the extraordinary mash-up of theatre, variety, dance, music and performance art, wowed audiences and won best production at last year’s Fringe Festival… Audiences were transported.
The Irish Times

This acclaimed Irish variety show melds high art and trash culture in a disorderly cocktail of partying and politics. With an all-star cast including famed drag queen Panti Bliss, RIOT is a dazzling blend of dance, drag, circus, comedy and powerful spoken word.

“Her voice is underpinned by Alma Kelliher’s composition and sound design, humming, modulating, constantly in the background, supporting and carrying the performer. Until the sound disappears altogether, that is, and all we are left with words floating into the space: “Not a sound, falling. Lispn! No wind no word. Only a leaf, just a leaf and then leaves.”
